Essex Chronicle editor Paul Dent-Jones has been promoted to senior editor of Essex Chronicle Media Group.
As well as continuing to edit the Chronicle, Dent-Jones will now take a “supervisory responsibility” for its Local World sister title the Brentwood Gazette and the two websites.
The move comes after Brentwood Gazette editor Neville Wilson moved earlier this month to become editor of special projects on Local World’s corporate development team. The company is seeking a new editor for the Gazette.
Dent-Jones joined the Chronicle six years ago as news editor before rising to become editor of the title in 2012.
Dent-Jones, who started as a reporter on the Slough and Windsor Observer, said: “It’s a real honour to be editor of the newspaper that I grew up reading. I want to build on the success of the past two years by developing our print titles and their platforms, driving even more users to our websites, and making the business more profitable.”
Richard Karn, South East managing director, said: “Paul has really grasped the transformation vision that Local World brought to our business when it launched last January, led his team from the front and has exceptional energy, creativity and a personal commitment to the area which will inspire those around him.
“I look forward to working with him to build on the achievements of the last two years.”
