The National Union of Journalists has condemned a death threat made against a journalist in Northern Ireland by a dissident republican group.
The police warned the unnamed journalist that their life may be in danger, and the NUJ has demanded the dissidents withdraw the threat.
Nicola Coleman, NUJ Irish organiser, said: "A free press is fundamental to a democratic society and journalists are enduring threats from both sides of the sectarian divide.
“The union has a proud history of standing up to such threats and will continue to do so. The NUJ calls on those who have made the threat to make no such threats in future."

A spokesperson for Belfast and District Branch of the union said: "We are concerned with the growing number of threats being made by paramilitary groups in Northern Ireland against journalists who are carrying out their work.
“We call on those responsible for the latest threat to lift it and to publicly say so."
According to the Guardian, the threat has been made against a Belfast-based female journalist working for a Sunday paper and relates to a story about dissident group Óglaigh na hÉireann.
The story claimed that Óglaigh na hÉireann was harbouring alleged paedophiles in its ranks.
