Media Scotland to launch weekly Edinburgh supplement for the Daily Record

By William Turvill

Trinity Mirror’s Media Scotland is set to launch a new free newspaper title in Edinburgh.

Edinburgh Now will be a free supplement in Scotland’s largest newspaper, the Daily Record. It will feature arts, business and sports news.

It follows the launch of Aberdeen Now, a separate Daily Record supplement distributed for free on Thursdays.

"This is another exciting launch for Scotland's leading print and digital publishers,” said Media Scotland editor-in-chief Allan Rennie.

"Edinburgh Now will offer a distinctive voice in the city, one which supports local communities and businesses.

"Our business, arts and sports sections will reflect the very heart of Edinburgh life."

According to ABC figures for May, the Daily Record's average circulation was 255,238 – down 0.63 per cent month on month and down 9.32 per cent year on year.
