DC Thomson launches new lifestyle magazine for Evening Express to ‘celebrate all that’s good’ about Aberdeen

By Charlotte Tobitt

DC Thomson Media has launched a new print magazine supplement and accompanying website covering “the very best of” north east Scotland.

Society, published every Thursday starting today, will cover Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire with the aim to “celebrate all that’s good about the area”.

Editor Samantha Leckie said there is a “real thirst” for lifestyle content in Aberdeen and that a major part of the magazine will be using creative images to make it look visually appealing.

It will have a heavy focus on the food and drink industry through interviews with local food producers and chefs and weekly food reviews.

It will also feature fashion and beauty features promoting north east retailers, interior trends with tips from local businesses, and interviews with music and theatre performers.

The magazine will be distributed with the Evening Express, which has a combined print and digital circulation of 22,736 according to the latest regional ABC figures.

Content will also appear on a new dedicated website.

Leckie, who is also head of features at the Evening Express, said: “We are fuelled by a passion for the north east and want to showcase everything the area has to offer.

“Both Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire are fantastic places to live, work and socialise – and we want to highlight that.”

She added: “Not only is Society packed full with exciting content, online and in print, it’s also visually appealing with its contemporary, sleek and stylish design. Creative photography and images will also play a key part in making Society appealing.

“The Society team are very proud and excited to be part of such a fantastic new brand which we believe there is a real thirst for in Aberdeen.”
