Former Scotsman editor and Sunday Telegraph deputy editor, Iain Martin, has been appointed as deputy editor of the Wall Street Journal Europe.
Martin, who left Telegraph Media Group in July, will take up his new role with immediate effect, reporting to WSJ Europe editor-in-chief Patience Wheatcroft.
The pair previously worked together when Wheatcroft was Sunday Telegraph editor.
Martin’s new role, which is based in London, will see him write a weekly European political analysis column and blog as well as overseeing development of Weekend Journal, the lifestyle and arts section published on Fridays.
Before leaving TMG earlier in the summer Martin was its head of comment. Prior to joining in 2006 he was editor of the Scotsman, as well as its sister publication, Scotland on Sunday.
In addition to Martin’s appointment, WSJ Europe has also appointed Tim Hanrahan, formerly WSJ.com day editor in New York, to oversee development of the WSJ Europe’s news output across print and web.
Jennifer Hicks, who previously oversaw the WSJ.com night desk in New York, will also join to assume responsibility for the continued expansion of europe.WSJ.com, reporting to Neil McIntosh.
Ben Wright has also been appointed as executive editor of the newly-created Europe Special Reports with responsibility for creating reports for Dow Jones’ publications in Europe.
He was previously managing editor of Business Publishing for Financial News, responsible for producing features, supplements and research reports.
