Sun’s Buzz magazine rebranded TV Buzz

By Andrew Pugh

The Sun’s Saturday magazine Buzz has been rebranded ‘TV Buzz’ and stripped of lifestyle content to avoid clashing with Fabulous magazine.

Former News of the World mag Fabulous began being published in its sister-title The Sun on Saturdays after the tabloid was shut down on 10 July.

Before the move Buzz was targeted towards a female readership, but following the rebrand owner News International said the new magazine ‘will not include lifestyle content and will be designed to appeal to both men and women.’

The first TV Buzz comes out this weekend with X Factor judge and singer Kelly Rowland on the cover. The 60-page magazine will have 44 pages of TV listings and 69 channels listed, which NI claimed was ‘more TV listings than any other magazine in the country”.

Acting editor of Buzz Steven Corbett said: ‘TV buzz will continue to play a crucial role in The Saturday Sun package and our renewed focus on TV will make us the best source of TV news and listings in the market.

‘We are the most original and creative TV magazine in the country with higher production and design values than any of our competitors. We are proud to shoot the biggest telly stars in the country for our cover, every week.

‘When you put all of this together with the main paper and Fabulous Magazine, it’s an explosive combo, every Saturday.’

Earlier this month it emerged that half Buzz magazine’s 20 journalists would be losing their jobs as a result of the shake-up. Fabulous magazine employs around 30 journalists.
