The Whitehall editor of the Sunday Times Marie Woolf has left the newspaper after nine years and is thought to be joining a rival title.
Woolf, who left the Sunday Times last week, has been a long-standing political journalist working at a number of different national newspapers.
After freelancing for a number of national titles in Brussels, Woolf joined the Independent on Sunday as political correspondent in the mid 1990s.
She then moved to the Daily Telegraph as political correspondent before moving across to be chief political correspondent at the Independent on Sunday.
Woolf, who has also worked at the Observer, has been at the Sunday Times since 2007 holding the title of assistant editor Whitehall.
It is understood that Woolf is not being replaced at the Sunday Times.
Woolf is thought to be one of a number of journalists leaving the Sunday Times.
