Fighting for quality news media in the digital age.

The Sun on Sunday launches new 32-page TV magazine, TV Soap

By William Turvill

The Sun has launched a new TV 32-page magazine, which will come free with its Sunday edition from this weekend.

The magazine is to be written and designed by The Sun’s TV Mag team, which is in the Saturday edition. It is edited by Steve Corbett.

The Sun said the magazine will feature an “in-depth look at the three major TV soaps – EastEnders, Coronation Street and Emmerdale – looking at all the soap gossip, interviewing the big stars, and many other fun features based around the current storylines”.

It will also “take a look around the rest of what’s on TV and has a comprehensive 7-day TV guide”.

Sun on Sunday editor Victoria Newton said: “TV Soap is an exciting new addition to The Sun on Sunday’s offer which includes Fabulous magazine, our brilliant new sport columnist Thierry Henry, and existing columnists Tony Parsons and Louise Mensch.

“While our rivals are reducing the number of magazines in their weekend editions, The Sun on Sunday is delighted to be able to offer comprehensive new TV listings as part of our unbeatable offer.”

The Sun on Sunday is the UK’s best selling Sunday newspaper, with an average circulation of 1,489,942 in February this year, down 12.1 per cent year on year.

According to ABC, the three biggest selling magazines in the UK are TV Choice, which recorded a circulation of 1,266,242 in the second half of 2014, What’s on TV, 1,056,885, and Radio Times, 783,042.
