As Trinity Mirror cuts around 200 editorial job from its London national titles, it has emerged that six of the current ten staff photographers will leave the Daily and Sunday Mirror.
Press Gazette understands that each newspaper will retain two staff photographers. Trinity Mirror’s third London-based naional, The People, already operates without any staff photographers.
Mirror Group Newspapers, the national newspaper division of Trinity Mirror, is currently in negotiations to cut 140 staff journalists and 60 casuals as it integrates a number of the production teams which produce the three national titles.
Subbing and production journalists are understood to be bearing the brunt of the cuts.
Trinity Mirror has signed a deal to outsource much of its national newspaper sub-editing to the Press Association, which is planning to establish a new dedicated team at its headquarters in Howden, Yorkshire, to manage the MGN’s subbing.
