NoW’s Fabulous mag moved to Saturday’s Sun

By Andrew Pugh

The News of the World‘s award-winning Fabulous magazine will be now published in Saturday’s edition of The Sun alongside its regular supplement Buzz.

Yesterday, publisher News International announced all 30 journalists working on Fabulous would keep their jobs despite the closure of the News of the World.

It was originally thought that Fabulous would appear in a Sunday edition of The Sun, a belief fuelled by News International taking control of the domain names thesunonsunday.co.uk and sunonsunday.co.uk.

A promotion in today’s Sun said Buzz will focus on TV news while Fabulous will be ‘packed with fashion fixes, hot gossip’and ‘big star names”.

This week’s cover star is the actress and TV presenter Denise Van Outen.

In January, Fabulous appointed former NoW digital editor Rachel Richardson as its new editor and promoted former deputy editor Joely Carey to editorial director.

The moves came after the magazine’s former editor Sally Eyden left to become editor of IPC’s Now.

Carey said: ‘Since we launched in 2008, Fabulous has been a runaway success – both editorially and commercially.

‘We have built ourselves an enviable position in the market as the leading high street fashion magazine, attracting premium advertisers and 5.5 million readers every week.

‘This excellence was recognised by the industry this year when we won Supplement of the Year at the British Press Awards. We look forward to continuing this success as part of The Saturday Sun.”

Richardson said: ‘It has been an extremely tough week for everyone here but we’re delighted that Fabulous magazine will live on.

‘We have a very loyal and engaged readership who have been sending us their messages of goodwill all week and we are really looking forward to welcoming them to our new home in the Saturday Sun.’
