North Devon Journal chief reporter Chloe Hubbard has been named as the paper’s new editor.
The announcement by publishers Northcliffe Media comes after the departure Andy Cooper, the former editor-in-chief of Cornwall and Devon Media who was also editor of the Journal.
Hubbard started her career in journalism in 2006 as a trainee sports reporter on the Journal before moving into news. She has also worked as a reporter for South West News Service and BBC Radio Devon and worked on the newsdesk at the Western Daily Press.
She said: ‘I am absolutely delighted to be appointed editor of the North Devon Journal. Not only because it is an incredible opportunity, but also because the team at the Journal are the most professional, hard-working and fun group of people I could wish to have as colleagues.
‘I am thrilled I can continue my career in this beautiful part of the country I am proud to say is home.”
Trevor Lee, the managing director of Cornwall and Devon Media, said: ‘Chloe will bring an energy and passion to the North Devon Journal which will reinvigorate it and help us achieve our ambition of creating a great product for both readers and advertisers.”
Hubbard takes up her new role on the 16 April 2012.
The most recent ABC figures for weekly title show a 3.3 per cent drop in circulation to 26,774.
