Media editor Alex Spence resigns from The Times

By Dominic Ponsford

Times media editor Alex Spence has resigned from the paper.

His last byline appeared on 30 January, ten days after he reported that The Sun had dropped its Page Three topless models feature.

His story said: "The Sun will no longer feature topless models on page three after quietly dropping one of the most controversial traditions in British journalism."

But the story was undermined when The Sun brought the page three feature back for one day.

A Times spokesperson said: "We can confirm that Alex Spence has left the paper. We will advertise the position in due course."
