Jeff Randall to front nightly business show for Sky News

By Paul McNally

Daily Telegraph editor-at-large Jeff Randall is to step down from the role at the end of this year to join Sky News on a permanent basis.

The broadcaster confirmed today that the former BBC business editor will front a new half-hour business news show from the new year.

The programme will air at 7.30pm from Monday to Thursday and will “take a business look at the big news stories and issues of the day”, Sky News said.

Randall, who has presented a Monday evening show on the channel since last September, was reported to have turned down an approach by ITV earlier this year to defect from Sky and become its business news pundit.

Head of Sky News John Ryley said: “Jeff breaks and makes news – that is what Sky is about. He will provide us with invaluable insight, analysis and interviews. He is the best in the business.”

Randall – who will continue to write a weekly column for the Daily Telegraph – said: “With the economy and credit crunch dominating the headlines, this is an exciting time to help expand Sky’s excellent business coverage.

“We aim to bring a fresh insight into the key players of corporate life. I’m looking forward to the challenge of four shows a week.”
