Jeff Brazier, the former partner of reality TV star Jade Goody, and TV presenter Jamie Theakston have begun legal action against News Group Newspapers.
They are believed to be demanding damages over the alleged use of phone-hacking at the now defunct News of the World.
Brazier, 32, played soccer for Leyton Orient before taking part in the reality TV show Shipwrecked in 2001. He went on to take part in Celebrity Wife Swap with Jade Goody and in 2004 won the reality show The Farm.
He fathered two children with Goody, and now works as a TV host.
Theakston, 41, started his broadcasting career in radio before moving to television, where he has hosted Top of the pops and Live & Kicking.
The initial stages of their lawsuit will be handled by procedural judge Chief Master Winegarten. Full details of the proceedings have yet to emerge from the High Court in London, where their claim is solely against News Group Newspapers.
