Former Baywatch star David Hasselhoff, who is currently judging America’s Got Talent alongside former Daily Mirror editor Piers Morgan, has launched a legal battle for libel damages of up to £750,000.
Hasselhoff is suing News Group Newspapers over a story in the Sun on June 19, headed: ‘Hoff is back on sway watch”. The story made allegations about the actor behaving in an intoxicated way.
He claims the story was defamatory, and is demanding massive damages, as well an injunction banning repetition of the allegations at the centre of his claim.
Hasselhoff, who is also suing over the internet version of the story, is claiming aggravated and exemplary damages.
