Former director of the Press Complaints Commision Guy Black has been appointed chairman of the Press Standards Board of Finance, the body which funds the PCC.
Black, who was the PCC’s director for seven years, will head up PressBoF, which he has been a member of since 2006.
The Board’s role is to raise finances to fund the PCC via subscriptions from members and to oversee the newspaper and magazine industry’s role in the self-regulatory system.
Black said: “Our system faces constant challenges and I look forward to working with my colleagues on the Board, and with Peta Buscombe at the PCC, to protect and promote it.”
Black is currently an executive director at Telegraph Media Group and has been with the company for the last four years.
Previous to that, he was Press Secretary to MP Michael Howard whilst he was leader of the Conservatives and Director of Communications for the Conservative Party.
Black takes over from former Johnston Press boss Tim Bowdler, who stood down from his post at PressBoF after four years.
