Former Daily Express features sub Malcolm Markland has died aged 75.
Markland's first taste of journalism came with the Watford Observer. He went on to work for several trade magazines before moving to Fleet Street as a holiday relief sub on the Evening News. From there he went to the Daily Mirror Manchester desk in London, Sunday Mirror features and then spent many years with the Express.
In April this year he was diagnosed with motor neurone disease and died at his home in Bedfordshire. He leaves two children and two grandchildren.
