Early bird rate tickets for this year’s London Press Club ball are available to the end of July

Discounted tickets for the London Press Club Ball, an annual event to raise money for the Journalists’ Charity, are available until the end of this month.

The event, held on 13 October at the Victoria and Albert Museum, will include a three-course meal, entertainment (including a silent  auction) and a drinks reception sponsored by Qatar Airways.

Sky TV host Dermot Murnaghan will be hosting the ball for the second year running.

Last year the event raised around £30,000.

Ray Massey, co-chairman of the London Press Club Ball and motoring editor of the Daily Mail, said: “Central to the fundraising is the electronic silent auction using computer tablets on the tables. The system is supplied by our auction partners Givergy, who specialise in this area. Guests love it because they can bid while they dine or chat. It creates a great sense of competition – and most importantly raises vital funds for the charity.

“The more prizes we can secure, the more we can raise. So scan your contacts books for travel firms and PRs who may donate holidays in return for seeing their name up in lights on the night.”

The Journalists’ Charity was established in 1864 with the aim of being able to support journalists from all strands of the media who find themselves in times of hardship.

Massey, who is organising the event alongside Robert Jobson, royal editor of the London Evening Standard, said: “Times are tough in the industry and in the wider economy so its services are needed more than ever.”

At £230 each or £2,600 for a table of 12, early bird tickets are available to purchase until 31 July.
