The Sun's editorial today spoke of "pride" after Andrew Mitchell lost his Plebgate libel case against the newspaper yesterday. But not all staff appear to be toeing the same line.
ITV News, Mail Online, The Times and Twitter users quote columnist – and former Tory MP – Louise Mensch (pictured, Reuters) as tweeting at 4.56pm: "No doubt in my mind that the #plebgate verdict is an appalling miscarriage of justice."
That tweet no longer exists on Mensch's Twitter feed, but others expressing her support for Mitchell are still available to see.
"I say again that Andrew Mitchell should be given back his front bench post, stolen from him by police collusion; police jailed for it," she said at 5pm.
And a minute later she tweeted: "A civil case is a civil case; no way do I believe Andrew at any time used the word "pleb" to police officers. A shocking result."
