The Sunday Mirror has hired Closer magazine’s entertainment and celebrity editor Dean Piper as its new showbiz columnist.
Piper replaces Zoe Griffin, who resigned from the Trinity Mirror-owned Sunday paper earlier this month after the two years in the job. His debut column will be in May.
Piper started out on the Daily Mirror’s 3am column before joining the Sunday Mirror’s sister title, The People, as showbiz reporter.
He worked as celebrity editor at IPC men’s monthly Loaded before joining Closer.
Sunday Mirror editor Tina Weaver said: “Dean has phenomenal energy and zest for the job which shines through. He will add an extra dimension to our showbusiness coverage.”
