Dan Wootton starts as NoW showbiz columnist

By Rachael Gallagher

Former TV editor of News of the World Dan Wootton produces his debut showbiz gossip column for the newspaper this Sunday, following the departure of Rav Singh.

Singh announced in September that after seven years he was leaving the newspaper to go freelance, and wrote his final column last Sunday.

Wootton, at 25, has taken over as showbiz editor and the paper claims he is the youngest showbiz columnist in the UK.

This could mean that Sunday Mirror’s gossip columnist Zoe Griffin, 26, may have to stop promoting herself has the ‘youngest, hottest columnist out there”.

Wootton joined News of the World in February 2007 and was promoted to TV editor in November.

His exclusives include the only Kate Moss and Pete Doherty joint interview and Jade Goody talking about her cancer.

New Zealand born Wootton wrote a daily entertainment column for Wellington-based national newspaper The Dominion Post and was a reporter for TV show Good Morning, before leaving New Zealand to move to London.
