The Daily Express was presented with an award for its coverage of diabetes at No 10 Downing Street this week.
The newspaper’s editor Hugh Whittow was presented with the Silver Star Globe at a ceremony hosted by the Prime Minister on Tuesday night.
Whittow said: “I am delighted to accept this on behalf of my newspaper for our coverage of diabetes.
"It is a largely preventable epidemic and the Daily Express will continue to do everything it can to stop its onward march.
“We want to help those suffering from it to get the knowledge they need to successfully manage their condition, while living as full a life as possible.”
The Express praised health editor Jo Willey for her work on its diabetes coverage and campaigning over the last 12 months.
The award was presented to Whittow by Public Health Minister Anna Soubry.
The Silver Star was launched by Labour MP Keith Vaz seven years ago after he was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes.
