Ex-News International chief executive Rebekah Brooks will today discover whether she will be charged with perverting the course of justice during the phone-hacking scandal that engulfed the News of the World.
Brooks resigned from the company on 15 July following the closure of the NoW and was arrested over alleged phone-hacking and corruption just days later.
On 13 March 2012, Brooks and her racehorse trainer husband Charlie were both arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.
Brooks and six other suspects – which reportedly include her husband and News International’s head of security Mark Hanna – will be told whether they face charges over the allegations when they answer bail later today.
According to reports, Brooks’s former PA Cheryl Carter, a 46-year-old News International chauffeur and two security consultants are also expected to be included in the Crown Prosecution Service’s announcement.
The charges relate to one of five files handed to the director of public prosecutions last month.
Rebekah Brook”s lawyer has previously questioned whether his client will get a fair trial given the level of publicity surrounding her arrest.
