Fighting for quality news media in the digital age.

AOP Digital Publishing Awards 2011: the full list of winners

By Press Gazette

Telegraph Media Group picked up four awards at the tenth annual Digital Publishing Awards 2011 last night.

They included best use of innovation for its How Should I Vote app and an individual award for digital media editor Emma Barnett.

The judges said Barnett’s technology channel had become a must-read destination for breaking news and that she had helped ‘shift coverage from feature-led to breaking news-led, ensuring the beat became a priority for the newsroom”.

Mail Online won the best consumer website award and Centaur Media’s Marketing Week picked up the award for best business website.

The awards – organised by the Association of Online Publishers – were held at the Roundhouse in Camden and hosted by comedian Russell Kane.

To mark the tenth anniversary a new AOP Grand Prix award was introduced. It was won by Future Publishing, which also scooped the prize for best digital publisher.

Judges said: ‘They set a great example to other companies that you don’t need mega budgets to transform your business, just an entrepreneurial and consistent attitude to new media across the organisation.”

News International won the best launch award for The Times & Sunday Times digital subscription product, which was described as ‘a gutsy move, uniting the whole company together in a single vision, resulting in a beautiful end product”.
