Airport security guard Jonathan Laker has launched a legal action over an article which appeared in The Sun suggesting scanner technology was used to ogle female colleagues at Heathrow.
Laker is pursuing News Group Newspapers, publisher of The Sun, for libel damages and demanding compensation of up to £150,000.
According to a writ filed at the High Court, the legal challenge comes after publication of the front story, headed “Scanner Glamour Ding-Dong! Cops quiz airport XC-ray man who ogled colleague’s boobs”.
The story continued on page five of the paper under the heading: “I Love Those Gigantic T**ts: Airport guard’s quip at girl in scanner”.
Heathrow airport worker Laker, who has instructed London law firm Carter-Ruck to act for him, argues the printed story and an online version were defamatory.
In addition to damages, Laker is seeking an injunction banning repetition of the claim.
