The London Evening Standard is to give away 650,000 free copies of the paper today to mark its relaunch under the new ownership of Alexander Lebedev.

The new-look Evening Standard
The new look includes a redesigned masthead and a new roster of writers. The Friday ES magazine has also been revamped, and a new “trends” section will appear in the main paper each Monday.
Today’s relaunch has been led by new editor Geordie Greig, who joined the Standard from Tatler earlier this year.
“London is the best city and we intend to celebrate it,” he said. “We want to reconnect with the greatest city in the world and we are prepared to fight for what is best for London and Londoners.”
Greig added: “We are going to be more upbeat, more representative and more positive. We firmly acknowledge that we could have served London better in the past and we aim to set this right as from today.”
The Standard’s relaunch in print coincides with the launch of a new mobile website at istandard.co.uk providing news, sport, travel, weather and a daily stock market round-up.
The main Standard website has also been redesigned with new blogs, Twitter feeds and increased entertainment and showbiz coverage.
