UK magazine launch for Women’s Health

By William Turvill

Hearst-Rodale is launching a new quarterly magazine for women which its hopes will replicate the success of top-selling UK men’s magazine Men’s Health.

Women’s Health, which is currently published across 13 other countries, is set to be released in the UK on 8 February.

The UK edition is edited by former deputy editor of Top Sante Farrah Storr, who said: “I was working in Australia when the magazine launched there and it now outsells Men’s Health, so I’m really keen to try and repeat that success.”

Men’s Health, which is also published by Hearst, had a UK circulation of just over 218,000 copies a month in the first half of last year. Women’s Health has an initial projected circulation of 85,000 and a cover price of £3.60.

Storr said: ‘Obviously you have to do a lot to persuade people to part with this sort of money so we’ve had to put a lot of effort in.

‘We cover health, celebrities, fashion, food and psychology, and have taken a lot of time going over every page to make sure it’s crammed with information. I’m confident it is value for money.”
