Reed Business Information is placing 12 posts at risk with plans to drop the weekly print edition Personnel Today and take the title online only.
A spokeswoman for the business magazine publisher confirmed that the 29 June issue of Personnel Today would be the last printed by the company.
RBI could not confirm in which departments the 12 job losses were likely to fall, however it said that four new posts would be created making a net loss of eight jobs.
The spokeswoman said: “Reed Business Information UK has announced the migration of Personnel Today to online only and the decision to cease publication of the magazine after the 29th June issue.
“The brand’s market leading website, PersonnelToday.com, will continue, as will the Personnel Today Awards, RBI UK will also continue to publish two monthlies, Occupational Health and Employers Law.
“Twelve posts are at risk of redundancy with four new posts being created.”
The switch to online-only publication at Personnel Today comes after a series of piecemeal changes at RBI.
Parent company Reed Elsevier revealed in February that profits at RBI, which includes UK magazine brands such as Farmers Weekly, News Scientist and Flight International, slumped by more than a third last year to £89m.
The parent company has steadily been disposing of RBI titles across the globe following the appointment of Erik Engstrom as chief executive last year; he replaced Ian Smith who resigned in November after less than a year in the role. In April, Reed Elsevier offloaded dozens of magazines from RBI’s US operation.
In January, RBI sold its UK Cosmetics News Weekly title to rival Communications International Group for an undisclosed sum.
These moves followed changes last year at RBI UK. In July, it sold its travel portfolio – including Travel Weekly magazine – to the entrepreneur behind Holiday Autos, Clive Jacobs. And in November it closed the 130 year-old weekly magazine for the UK construction industry, Contract Journal.
