Former Maxim deputy editor Terri White has been promoted to editor at free weekly men’s magazine, Shortlist.
White was previously executive editor of Shortlist, which celebrates its first birthday this week.
She will be replacing former FHM editor Ross Brown, who has become editor-at-large and will be an ‘ambassador’for the magazine.
White’s promotion makes her currently the only female editor of a major UK men’s lifestyle magazine. Previous female editors of men’s mags include Rosie Boycott who edited Esquire and current UK Vogue editor Alexandra Shulman who previously edited GQ.
White said: ‘In just a year, Shortlist has become a media phenomenon and I look forward to working with our incredible team to achieve even greater levels of success.”
Editorial director Phil Hilton, who is nominated for launch editor of the year at the 2008 BSME awards, first worked with White eight years ago at IPC on rival men’s weekly, Nuts. He said: ‘Her unique combination of creative energy and flair for organisation made her an instant star.”
Shortlist was founded by former editorial director of IPC Media, Mike Soutar, and is funded by a group of investors including hedge fund GLG Partners.
The magazine is handed out for free on Thursdays outside tube and train stations in cities around the country including London, Manchester and Birmingham and has an ABC of 481,321.
