Shortlist Media has appointed the bulk of the editorial team to launch its free woman’s weekly fashion magazine Stylist later this year.
Freelance Susan Riley, who has previously worked at Look, Fabulous, Grazia and contributed to Cosmopolitan, has been appointed deputy editor of the new magazine.
She’ll report to Lisa Smosarski, currently editor of More magazine, who was appointed in June as the launch editor of the free magazine.
Smosarski will take up her role on Shortlist Media’s newest title next month. She will be joined by former Tatler deputy beauty editor, Emma Smith, who will take up the role of beauty editor at Stylist.
Lizanne Davies-Harris has been appointed fashion director after previously filling the same role at Cosmopolitan, Good Housekeeping and New Woman.
Other editorial appointments include Alix Walker, currently Woman & Home deputy features editor, who will take up the role of features editor.
Clare Ferguson, art editor at More, will become Stylist’s art editor. Jennifer Bradly, deputy production editor of Shortlist magazine, will move across the company to become production editor of the new magazine.
Scarlett Russell, a former contributor to Glamour, Closer and Fabulous, is joining as a writer while Tom Gormer, former entertainment picture editor for Marie Claire, will become photography director.
Mike Soutar, chief executive of Shortlist Media, told Press Gazette the editorial team is likely to be boosted by a few further appointments.
He said: “Both the volume and quality of applications on the commercial and editorial side has been really gratifying. A lot of people are really excited about the launch.”
Stylist will be the second launch from the company, joining men’s free weekly magazine, Shortlist, which launched two years ago.
The first edition of Stylist is expected to hit newsstands at the end of September or start of October, with a firm date to be announced within the next two weeks.
