Michael Butcher, editor of the weekly celebrity magazine, has resigned from his post due to a family illness.
Butcher joined Reveal in 2005 after working as associate editor of Ideal Home, Prima, and Now and a brief stint as deputy editor of Closer magazine.
He oversaw a re-branding last year that saw the title become the ‘Celebrity magazine written by celebrities’.
In the first six-months of this year, Reveal saw its circulation rise by 14 per cent year on year to 315,660.
Jessica Burley, NatMag’s managing director, said: “This has been a very hard decision for Michael; we wish him and his family the very best at this difficult time.
“Michael has achieved a huge amount in his time as editor for Reveal and the recent ABC figure is testament to his creativity and determination. He leaves a fantastic team that will miss him hugely. Michael will be a hard act to follow, and personally I will miss him greatly.”
Butcher said he was “heartbroken” to be leaving his job. “I’m taking great comfort from the fact that I’m leaving a magazine that is in such fantastic shape,” he added.
He will continue at Reveal until the end of the year, while the company is looking for his successor.
