Retail Week appoints its first ever editor-in-chief

By Jennifer Norton

Chris Brook-Carter has been named as the first ever editor-in-chief of Emap's weekly magazine Retail Week.

He joins the publication from news and information group Aroq, which he joined in 2000, becoming editorial director and later publisher.

Prior to this he was deputy editor of Wine and Spirit International.

'Retail is fast moving and diverse so it is essential that Retail Week delivers its great content through whatever platform its customers choose,'he said.

'While the beating heart of the Retail Week brand remains the magazine, readers increasingly want to interact across several platforms.

'I am looking forward to working with the talented editorial teams and further driving its digital strategy and customer engagement through an effective multi-platform approach."

Brook-Carter's responsibilities will include the magazine's website, Retail Week Knowledge Bank, Retail Week Reports and commercial editorial projects.

Tracey Davies, managing director of retail at Emap, said: 'Chris is an innovative editor and gifted publisher.

'He brings deep digital knowledge and experience, which will be critical as we continue to build Retail Week into a more effective and successful multi-platform brand."
