Two former senior executives from Trader Media have formed a new company with a former Dennis executive and bought the TNT magazine group from Trader Media.
Former TMG head of marketing Tony Goodman and former Haymarket digital publishing director James Murray Jones, who also spent time at Trader Media, have teamed up with the ex-group publishing director for Dennis’ motoring division, Phil Parker, and created Red Reef Media.
TNT magazine celebrates 25 years in publication this year, and has a free distribution of 250,000.
Red Reef chief executive Murray Jones said: ‘It’s a brand that has huge resonance with its readership and has a great database of good quality editorial content that stretches back a long way, focused on international travel. We felt it wasn’t being leveraged to the full extent.”
Jones said he felt the current web offering, which features news, travel and classified pages, spreads itself very thin.
‘It tries to be all things to all men,” he said. “The information architecture of the site isn’t very intuitive – we need to overhaul the design to give it more impact, and we need to balance it out.”
CORRECTION:
TNT magazines has been bought by Red Reef Media, not Red Fish Media as Press Gazette stated last week.
