The executive council of the National Union of Journalists has compiled a shortlist of eight candidates for the editorship of its in-house magazine, Journalist.
Members of the NUJ will be asked to vote for their preferred candidate for the £51,325 a year role when ballot papers are sent out next week.
The candidates are:
- Tim Arnold
- Christine Buckley
- Michael Cross
- Frank Morgan
- Richard Simcox
- Stephen David Tilley
- Steven Usher
- Mark Watts
Union members have been invited to a hustings on 7 October at the NUJ’s Grays Inn Road headquarters, in London, so they can put questions to each of the candidates.
Union branches and chapels wishing to organise their own hustings have been asked to make contact with the union to organise proceedings.
Journalist is looking for a new editor following an announcement in July that Tim Gopsill intended to retire from his role with the bi-monthly magazine after 21 years.
Press Gazette has invited all the candidates to send in a 150-word statement and photograph and will publishing their profiles on Monday.
