New editor for Women’s Fitness magazine

By Conrad Quilty-Harper

Trojan Publishing has appointed Joanna Knight as the new editor of Women’s Fitness magazine.

Knight, formerly deputy editor, takes the helm today following the departure on Friday of founding editor Christina Neal, who left after three years at the helm.

Neal founded niche publication Personal Trainer for Women, in 2002, before selling the magazine to Trojan Publishing in 2006 where it was relaunched as Women’s Fitness.

She told the Press Gazette she left the magazine to work on a new, as yet undisclosed, venture.

Prior to establishing Women’s Fitness, Neal had been editor of Good Health magazine and also worked as a publisher for Dennis Publishing.

Her successor, Knight, joined Women’s Fitness two years ago as a staff writer. She previously worked at The Erotic Review and as a writer for drink and travel magazine, Fresh, before joining Women’s Fitness.

According to circulation figures released last week Women’s Fitness’ grew sales by 83 per cent year on year to average 37,603 each month over first half of the year.
