National Geographic to launch UK Traveller magazine

By Alexandra Zeevalkink

National Geographic is to launch a UK edition of its Traveller magazine by the end of this year.

National Geographic Traveller, which currently publishes 15 local-language editions, will debut in the UK in December with the January/February issue of the magazine.

The title will then be published six times a year – priced of £3.85 – and made available to readers via subscription and on the newsstands.

The magazine will be published by Absolute Publishing under license from the US National Geographic Society.

Declan Moore, National Geographic’s senior vice president of international publishing, said: ‘We are delighted to have APL as our partner for the launch of National Geographic Traveller in the UK.

‘Their demonstrated successes within the travel category, coupled with their high editorial values, will position National Geographic Traveller well with both readers and advertisers alike, extending our publishing portfolio in the British Isles.”

According to the most recent figures from the Audit Bureau of Circulations, each edition of National Geographic Magazine sold an average of 327,928 copies during the first half of the year – a year-on-year decline of 8.5 per cent.
