Deputy managing editor of In Style in the US, Eilidh MacAskill, is to replace Trish Halpin as the UK editor of In Style when she leaves to take over IPC stablemate Marie Claire.
Halpin is to replace Marie O’Riordan as editor on IPC’s flagship women’s monthly Marie Claire in February next year, after O’Riordan announced in October that she was standing down as editor after seven years at the helm.
Prior to her job on In Style in America, MacAskill was editor of Northern & Shell‘s now defunt women’s title Happy. She has also worked as fashion director at Express Group and h and associate editor of Scotland on Sunday.
IPC Southbank managing director Jackie Newcombe said: ‘Eilidh is uniquely qualified for this role, as she is not only steeped in fashion but has also spent the last year in New York as deputy managing editor of In Style’s flagship edition. While there, she played a key role in the magazine’s successful redesign, so the opportunity to have her lead the UK team is fantastic.”
In Style UK’s acting publishing director Inca Waddell said: ‘InStyle UK has performed strongly in 2008 and it’s in a great position following its recent redesign, which is proving very popular with both readers and advertisers.”
In Style, which is monthly, saw a small increase in the latest round of ABCs, up 1.2 per cent year on year to 180,879.
