Dennis Publishing has acquired women’s magazine Health & Fitness from rival publisher Hubert Burda Media.
The purchase of Health & Fitness adds to a growing number of health magazines owned by Dennis Publishing.
It already owns the fast-growing Men’s Fitness magazine for which it forged an agreement last October with US firm American Media (AMI) to launch a number of international editions.
The terms of this latest deal with Hubert Burda were not disclosed.
Health and fitness titles have been booming in recent months as other magazines have been feeling a pinch on circulations.
According to the most recent circulation figures from the Audit Bureau of Circulations, Health & Fitness sold an average of 35,436 copies each month in the first half of last year, an increase of 15 per cent year on year.
Pete Muir will expand his role as editorial director of Men’s Fitness to now also cover Health & Fitness.
The editorial and advertising teams of Health and Fitness will join as Dennis Publishing employees and will move to the company’s headquarters in Cleveland Street, London.
