Cosmopolitan deputy moves to edit Heat

By William Turvill

The deputy editor of Cosmopolitan has moved to become editor of Heat, publisher Bauer Media has announced.

Suzy Cox, who has also edited Cosmopolitan spin-off Cosmo on Campus, will work under Heat editor-in-chief Lucie Cave.

Cox replaces Jeremy Mark who left the title to go freelance in April after two and a half years.

Her departure from Cosmopolitan has been announced shortly after a new editor for the magazine was appointed. Louise Court, who has edited the title for eight years, was named as the new director of editorial strategy and content across Hearst Magazines earlier this month. And she was replaced at Cosmopolitan by Women's Health editor Farrah Storr.

Cox, who has previously worked at Smash Hits, 19, Mizz, Grazia and The Sun's Fabulous magazine, described Heat as a "generation-defining title".

She said: "I have lots of ideas for the development of the magazine and can't wait to get started."

Cave said: “Suzy is a very talented editor, full of brilliant plans for heat, and I am very much looking forward to working with her. She is joining heat at a very exciting period in its history as we continue to evolve.”

Heat recorded an average weekly circulation of 204,917 is the second half of 2014, according to ABC, down 15 per cent year on year. The title had a circulation of close to 600,000 in 2006.
