By Sarah Limbrick

Singer Cheryl Cole is suing Now magazine publishers IPC Media for libel over a story which claimed she was involved in a “secret romance”.

Cole, 28, is demanding aggravated damages for libel over a story headlined: ‘World Exclusive So Solid’s Harvey ‘My Secret Romance with Cheryl'”.

The story appeared on the front page and on three inside pages of the magazine on 6 February, according to a claim form filed at the High Court.

Cole is also suing over a follow up story headlined: ‘Cheryl & Harvey: The Proof’published on the front page and four inside pages the following week.

Cole, who shot to fame as part of the group Girls Aloud after appearing on the reality ITV show Popstars: The Rivals, is also suing over internet versions of the stories.

She is seeking an injunction banning IPC from repeating the allegations, and accuses the magazine of misusing private information about her in the stories, which she claims was false.
