The Sun, The Times and The Sunday Times will carry highlights of FA Cup matches and England’s international friendlies after striking a deal with the Football Association.
The deal to show near-live video clips from autumn 2014 comes as News UK prepares to offer its subscribers highlights from all 380 Barclays Premier League games when the new season kicks off next month.
The four-year FA rights package for the FA Cup, Community Shield, England friendly and under-21 matches will see News UK take the rights to online video clips, and the BBC and BTSport have the TV rights.
Mike Darcey, chief executive of News UK, said: “This is a significant enhancement of our sports offering to all our readers, and will help transform the way football is enjoyed across a range of platforms. Compelling content is at the heart of the distinct offering which will help News UK deliver its goal of securing a sustainable future for our world-class journalism.”
In January, News UK secured the rights to show Premier League video clips on its websites in a £20m three-year deal from 17 August.
The Sun will join its sister titles in making its content subscription-only from 1 August, with the offer of Premier League clips widely considered to be a key element in making the switch.
