News UK is to offer Times and Sunday Times subscribers free access to music download site Spotify.
The premium subcription to Spotigy normally costs £10 a month. Free access is available to Times/Sunday Times premium and 'ultimate' package subscribers, which cost £6 and £8 a week respectively.
The two titles currently claim to have 153,000 digital subscribers and 207,000 print subscribers.
It said to be first time Spotify has done a deal of this sort with a media owner. Spotify offers subscribers unlimited access to a library of some 20 million songs.
News UK and Spotify have plans to host a series of 'intimate' accoustic concerts open to Times and Sunday Times subscribers.
News UK chief marketing officer Katie Vanneck-Smith said: “Music is one of the top passions of readers of The Times and The Sunday Times and it is our aim to provide new services to our membership base to add value to their subscription. We also want to offer great benefits to potential new customers to encourage them to join our 360,000 strong membership base.
“We look forward to enhancing our music content and creating exclusive experiences through this exciting partnership with Spotify. It is great to be working with a like-minded brand that also offers premium paid-for content.”
