Fighting for quality news media in the digital age.

Business Insider launches in UK with seven editorial staff

By William Turvill

Business Insider has launched in the UK today with seven editorial staff.

The site, which was founded in New York and now has seven editions across the world, claims to attract 55m unique visitors a month globally.

Last month, it claimed to have attracted three million unique monthly visitors in the UK despite not having a dedicated website.

Business Insider UK has four main focuses – finance, technology, politics and strategy – and is led by managing director Julian Childs. Jim Edwards, formerly of Adweek and CBS Interactive, is editing the title.

Henry Blodget, chief executive and editor-in-chief of Business Insider, said: “We’re bullish about launching a UK version of Business Insider. We believe there’s a void in the marketplace for our digital-first approach to news aimed at business leaders of today and tomorrow.

"It’s an especially exciting time for us to dive into this market, as the UK and the continent remain pivotal players in international affairs and business.”

Childs said: "We are excited to bring to UK and Europe the unique kind of news that has become our brand’s trademark: punchy, fearless and conversational.”
