Journalists must be allowed to cover Scotland's independence debate without fear of intimidation, union chiefs have said.

Paul Holleran, Scottish organiser for the National Union of Journalists, spoke out after hundreds of pro-independence campaigners staged a demonstration outside BBC Scotland's Glasgow headquarters (pictured, Reuters).

The Yes campaigners had alleged that the broadcaster's coverage of the referendum so far has been biased against independence.
