AOL has entered a partnership with ITN for the news organisation to supply hours of news, entertainment and lifestyle video to the web portal each day.
Under the deal, ITN will provide AOL with a daily suite of videos from which its editors will select packages of clips to run across the homepage, news and entertainment channels.
Video clips, which pla yback within the page, will vary from 60 seconds to six minutes in length.
“ITN is a leading provider of a wide range of high quality video content and this deal builds on our strategy to inform, entertain and connect with our users,” said Kate Burns, head of AOL in Europe.
“By bolstering video across the AOL UK platform we are offering advertisers even more opportunities to reach our engaged audiences as we programme the most compelling multi-media experiences across our rich, topical and trusted content.”
The video deal comes after AOL UK made a series of editorial appointments last month as the company pushes ahead with plans to appoint “hundreds” of journalists in the coming year.
The majority of AOL’s planned appointments are expected to be made in the US, however, it is undertaking an expansion in the UK which is being led by Carla Bevan, who joined AOL in early June from Marie Claire taking the role of editor-in-chief of its UK sites.
ITN Productions is providing video news covering UK, world, showbiz, money and sports as well as entertainment and lifestyle content spanning video gaming, music, TV, movies and fashion.
