The BBC has announced that Evan Davis will become a permanent presenter on Radio 4’s flagship current affairs programme Today.
The former BBC economics editor was intially offered a 12-month contract to join the rota of Today presenters, starting in April 2008.
Today editor Ceri Thomas said: “I’m delighted to be able to confirm something that’s been obvious from the moment Evan first arrived: that he’s a big part of the long-term future of this programme.”
Davis has worked on a range of programmes reporting and analysing economic developments. He is also known for presenting BBC 2’s business programme Dragons’ Den.

“I’m glad and grateful they’ve signed me up permanently,” Davis said. “With a few more years in the job, I might actually get the hang of it.”
Radio 4 controller Mark Damazer said the programme would benefit from Davis’s “clout when dealing with economic and business”.
“He has brought a relentlessly inquiring mind to all that he does,” Damazer added.
