ITV News UK editor Lucy Manning (pictured) and ITN senior news editor Ed Campbell are to join the BBC.
Manning is to be made a special correspondent and Campbell will be special correspondents editor.
The BBC said in a statement that Campbell had worked alongside Manning on ITV News’s coverage of the Savile scandal and the Woolwich attacks.
Campbell previously managed ITV’s “Betrayed?” series on the treatment of wounded returning soldiers.
BBC News James Harding is expected to announce next month that up to 500 jobs, 6 per cent of the division, are to be made redundant.
Jonathan Munro, BBC head of newsgathering, said: “Lucy and Ed will combine coverage of hard and breaking news with a commitment to investigative journalism, which their track record so clearly demonstrates.”
Manning said: “I… look forward to joining the newsroom and colleagues who I have often worked alongside on the road. I have had a wonderful time at ITN and am grateful for all the opportunities there but I am excited about this new challenge with the BBC.”
Campbell said: “I'm very much looking forward to joining BBC News. This role represents a fantastic opportunity to work at the heart of the BBC's news coverage, which I'm thrilled about. I'm proud to have worked for the last nine years in ITV News, and of what we have managed to achieve together. Although I will be sad to leave so many friends and colleagues, I'm delighted that my partnership with Lucy will continue.”
