The BBC has launched a new Welsh language website, Cymru Fyw.
Available on computer, tablet and mobile, the online service will feature news and features in Welsh as well as directing people to other content from the BBC and elsewhere.
The site, which will operate between 8am and 6pm on weekdays, will also feature a magazine section with opinions, blogs and photo galleries.
BBC News at Ten presenter Huw Edwards, who is a native Welsh speaker, said: “I remember clearly the launch in 1977 of Radio Cymru, and S4C's triumphant appearance in 1982, two huge milestones in the history of the language.
“It could be argued that Cymru Fyw's launch is just as important as those big events.”
BBC Wales’s head of Welsh language programmes and service Sian Gwynedd said: “We hope the new Cymru Fyw service will appeal to Welsh speakers of all ages throughout Wales and beyond, offering a service that's unique and up-to-date.
“It's essential the service is available on all devices and easy to use, and the intention is to get more people using, not just Cymru Fyw, but all the other high quality and interesting content available online in Welsh.”
When plans for the Cymru Fyw, which translates as 'Wales Live' in English, were announced last August, the launch was expected to create six new jobs.
