US publisher ALM acquires Legal Week from Incisive Media

Incisive Media has sold Legal Week to US-based publisher ALM.

ALM said ithe deal would strengthen its "strategic presence in European and Asian markets and add to the company’s portfolio of legal media properties".

ALM also owns Law.com, The American Lawyer, Asian Lawyer, Corporate Counsel, and The National Law Journal.

ALM chief executive Bill Carter said: “This acquisition is an important next step as we expand our offerings into key international  markets.

"Legal Week has a strong audience base in Europe and Asia, and an impressive collection of industry events. It has also successfully transitioned to a business model primarily focused on digital content and services. These attributes make Legal Week an ideal addition to our platform."

ALM, formerly known as American Lawyer Media, publishes titles including The American Lawyer, Corporate Counsel, The National Law Journal and The New York Law Journal in the United States.

Overall, ALM has 25 publications and employs nearly 800 people worldwide. Approximately 15 per cent of its employees are journalists or editors.

Legal Week, which has 34 full-time employees, is ALM's first UK acquisition and the company said it does "not have any workforce reduction plans at this time".
