The Printing Charity has announced that Financial Times editor Lionel Barber will be their president for 2018.
Its yet another title for Barber, who was last month named chairman of the Tate, raising questions over the paper’s impartiality in its arts coverage.
The Printing Charity is based in the UK and has been helping people involved in all aspects of the printing industry since 1827.
Barber said: “At a time when the print industry faces diverse and important challenges, The Printing Charity does crucial work in both protecting the industry’s heritage and supporting its future.
“I am delighted to be involved with the charity as its President this year and look forward to meeting the many people who make the British print industry such a rich and varied business.”
Barber was appointed editor of the Financial Times in 2005. He has almost 40 years of experience in the print industry and began his career in journalism as a reporter for The Scotsman in 1978.
Barber was recently awarded for ‘outstanding contribution to financial journalism’ at the Media Society Awards.
